**Newquay Contact Improvisation classes
**

• Meetings of playfulness and sharing space/ touch/ shapes/ weight/ tools/ thoughts. 
 In these sessions we will explore embodiment , experiential anatomy, the constant journey of our awareness and how these affect our movement. 
We will dive into mindfulness in movement and approach "dance" as a form of meditation.
Touch will be a powerful tool in this exploration.
We will also share more practical tools on how to enter a dance space and how to use weight exchange in nourishing and empowering ways in our dances. Momentum and small dance ,along with other fundamental contact improvisation principles ,will be in the core of our practice.

• The classes are structured in such way that ease us into improvisation.
If you have never tried contact improvisation before or the word improvisation discourages you, I invite you to come along too. You will not recognize yourself after a couple of sessions.

• What is Contact improvisation ? 
It is a dance form, originated by American choreographer Steve Paxton in 1972, based on the communication between two or more moving bodies that are in physical contact.

✓Benefits: The studies around the effects of the absence of touch on an organism are numerous. Touch has been criminalised these last years. Now, more than ever, we need to restore our relationship with touch. 
Contact improvisation not only tones the muscles, improves body flexibility/strength/ balance, but also enhances proprioceptive awareness and does miracles for our mental health and general well-being.
